Licensing services in Bekasi Regency have again drawn criticism, especially regarding the granting of authority to sign non-licensing permits which is still under the head of the technical service, not the One Stop Investment and Integrated Services Service (DPMPTSP). A community figure, Gunawan or who is familiarly called Mbah Goen, stated that the licensing bureaucracy was worsening the investment climate in Bekasi Regency. According to him, the service pattern is not transparent, there is no certainty and the demand for compensation causes discomfort for investors.
“The implementation of licensing services in Bekasi Regency, especially non-licensing matters which are still given signing authority to the head of the technical service (not DPMPTSP) is a frightening prospect for entrepreneurs because the processing takes a long time, is complicated, and leads to ‘wani piro’ before the permit is issued,” said Mbah Goen.

Mbah Goen, also highlighted the importance of regulatory reform in the licensing sector to support investment growth in the area. If this is not addressed immediately, it is feared that investors will choose to move to other areas that are more business-friendly.
